Mindfulness is the first step in changing...

Yourself...
Your School...
The World...

Our Purpose & Our Goal

MHE strives to bring mindfulness into the lives of students and inspire positive, internal transformation within individuals because we believe that the best way to change the world is to begin with oneself. Our goal is to offer free mindfulness programs, scholarships, and service opportunities for students seeking to live life with balance and tranquility.

Our Vision

We strongly believe that when one changes themself, they change the world around them as well. Our vision as MHE is to help students incorporate healthy habits and mindfulness practices into their daily lives in order to not only make an impact on their personal well-being and overall quality of life, but also to create an impact that spreads from one person to possibly the whole world.

Our Story

Daata Mindfulness is a 1,400+ year old methodology for bringing balance, tranquility, and meaning to one's life. Practicing Daata Mindfulness, in its simplest sense, is cultivating the light, gentle, and loving qualities inherent within all human beings.

Our Community

We currently sponsor EIU Mindfulness Club, a Registered Student Organization at Eastern Illinois University that provides students with tangible opportunities to change the world by changing oneself, including active service such as our Fruit Pantry project where we hand out free fruit to students on campus.

About Us

Mindfulness in Higher Education was started with one simple intention: to help students in higher education cultivate balance, happiness, and contentment during their formative years as college students.

Many students today struggle to find balance during their college years. The need to find meaning and purpose in life often falls to the wayside, as students are burdened with educational, financial, and societal concerns. Stress, depression, and anxiety abound, and many cope in unhealthy ways. At a time in life where students should be discovering themselves and living life to the fullest, these ailments often hinder their amazing potential.

Think About Now

We ask the question: If you're not happy now, when will you be?

Rather than finding happiness now, students often think "I'll be happy once I get this or that." First its a job, then a promotion, then a spouse, a new car, and so on and so forth. It is this line of thinking that keeps one from being truly satisfied, for students do not learn to see the "carrot on the stick." If you need something else to be happy, is life really being lived to the fullest?

We strive to help students:

be happy, content, and fulfilled now;

find true contentment within themselves;

and realize their potential to the fullest.
